This project involved creating a visualisation, for an architectural regeneration project in rural Siciliy
The idea was to regenate a piece of abandoned and disused land between two bridges, to create an attraction with a sculptural and boptanical graden as well as a visitor centre. A hub for artist to show off their craft. And for visitors to relax and enjoy the experience in a mediterranean themed botanical garden with a wwater feature.
I was provided with drone footage of the area. This was tracked in Nuke to produce a 3d camera, the solution was then taken into Blender 3D, and a full scale 3d scene of the proposed concept was created
I was responsible for:
- Building out the concept based on the directors rough idea.
- Tracking the drone footage in Nuke to produce a camera for use in 3d
- Building out the assets, and vegetation in Blender
- Creating additional close ups of the features as the drone footage was somewhat "zoomed out"
- Compositing the renders in Nuke
Challenges
There were a few challenges with this project
- The drone camera changed angles quite a few times on a landscape with not many easily trackable features. This was overcome by creating the track for the camera in segments
- The way the drone footage had been shot, it was not possible to fully show off the end result of the project, as camera with a very small focal lenth was used. I got over this challenge by creating animated close-ups of each feature. Which were then used to give the drone footage over view more context.
Results
The project has largely been successful in that it prsented a good picture of what had been proposed, within a limited budget and time constraints
